Before printing any hate mail about Robert Hilburn’s latest rant (“Is Anyone Out There Listening?,” July 5), let me get a word in edgewise.
Hey, Hilburn-haters: He’s right. Pop consumers do deserve an “F.” Honestly, would you buy albums by Celine Dion or the Backstreet Boys? Would you put up with a double album by Master P? Why do you have to attack Hilburn and defend the crap he criticizes?
Hilburn speaks the truth. People will still buy anything you force on them, provided it’s hyped just right.
