Park Service to Hold Planning Forums

The National Park Service has announced that a series of public forums will be held this week to discuss future plans for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
The forums will be held to give the public a chance to comment on the park’s General Management Plan, or master plan, said Arthur Eck, park superintendent.
“This is an effort to hear the public’s concerns and ideas about what the park’s purpose should be in the future,” he said. “The park service really wants everyone to participate.”
The plan is divided into four park concepts: preservation, recreation, education and an integrated idea that combines the other three ideas, Eck said.
The public meeting schedule is:
Today, Board Room, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd., 7-10 p.m.; Tuesday, Taft High School, 5461 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills, 7-10 p.m.; Wednesday, Autry Museum, 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles, 7-10 p.m.; Thursday, Webster Elementary School, 3602 Winter Canyon Road, Malibu, and Friday, Ventura County Government Center, Assembly Room, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura, 3-6 p.m.
