16-Year-Old Sought in Shot Fired at Car
Police were searching for a 16-year-old gang member they believe fired a shot at a car traveling south in the 200 block of South Palm Avenue early Sunday.
The car was driven by a 25-year-old woman. Its passengers were a 7-year-old girl she was caring for and three males, all of Santa Paula. Police say the shooter, who was standing on the sidewalk, was aiming at the three males because they belong to a rival gang.
The woman told police she had picked up her friends--an adult and two youths--from a party and was bringing them home when a shot sliced through the car’s roof at about 6:30 a.m., Santa Paula Police Sgt. Steven Carter said.
No one was hurt.
“Six inches lower and it could have hit any one of those people,†Carter said.
The suspect is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder.
