Diez Powers Conejo to an 18-3 Beating of Kingman
Kevin Diez drove in five runs with three hits to help Conejo to an 18-3 victory over Kingman, Ariz., on Friday in a Camarillo tournament game at Camarillo High.
John Smith and Adam Leavitt hit two-run home runs for Conejo (13-8) while Diez included a two-run double in his assault on the Kingman pitching staff.
Conejo and Camarillo, which will play at 2 p.m. today, are both 3-0 in pool play.
Camarillo A 4, Claremont 0--Josh Miller scattered three hits over five innings and Greg Ramirez pitched the final two innings of Camarillo’s second pool-play victory of the day.
Joe Yingling drove in one run with two hits and Tony Murphy had two hits, including a double, and scored once for Camarillo.
Camarillo A 13, Pomona 3--Poncho Tinoco hit a three-run home run in the second inning and Ernie Borjas allowed one earned run in six innings for Camarillo A.
