No 2. Edison 4, Huntington Beach 0--Kim Stempkowski scored two goals and had two assists as Edison extended its winning streak to six games. Ali Nadler had two saves and Cathryn Perkins had three saves, teaming for Edison’s 10th shutout this season.
Edison improved to 12-0-2, 1-0.
In the Century League:
No. 8 Canyon 6, Villa Park 0--Stacie Lopez scored a goal in each half to lead Canyon, which scored five goals in the first half. The Comanches are 10-4, 1-0.
In the Pacific Coast League:
No. 10 University 2, Laguna Beach 0--Parim Espahbodi scored in the 17th minute for University.
In the Sea View League:
No. 7 Santa Margarita 4, Irvine 0--Freshman Jenny Anderson scored two goals for Santa Margarita (5-4-2, 1-0), which took a 3-0 lead at the half. Freshman Katie Frattone and junior Sara Henderson each scored one goal. Junior Erin Regan had five saves for the Eagles.
No. 9 El Toro 1, Newport Harbor 0--Christina Mariscal scored in the 55th minute for El Toro. Goalkeeper Melody Derloshon had seven saves for the Chargers (7-3-1, 1-0). Jordan Fredriksen recorded nine saves for Newport Harbor.
In the South Coast League:
No. 1 Capistrano Valley 3, No. 3 Mater Dei 1--Two sophomores and a freshman dominated for the Cougars, who opened league play with an easy victory over Mater Dei (9-1-1, 0-1).
Sophomore Lindsay Greco and freshman Kristen Moore gave the Cougars a 2-0 halftime lead and sophomore Janelle Hillseth added the final goal for Capistrano Valley. Greco also assisted on Hillseth’s goal. Capistrano Valley (14-0-2, 1-0) hammered junior goalkeeper Rachel Slocum-Johnson, who finished with 12 saves. Junior Tracey Winzen scored Mater Dei’s goal in the second half.
No. 5 Mission Viejo 5, Trabuco Hills 0--Jen Mescher scored a goal and had three assists in the second half for Mission Viejo. Mission Viejo scored all five goals in the second-half.
Hannah Cochrun had two saves in her 10th shutout of the season for the Diablos (10-3-1).
