Two accidents involving tractor-trailers delayed drivers on the northbound Ventura Freeway between Victoria and Seaward avenues Monday afternoon.
The first occurred about 1:30 p.m. near the Victoria offramp in Ventura when a tractor-trailer drifted out of the slow lane and hit a van parked on the shoulder of the freeway, said California Highway Patrol Officer Dave Cockrill. He did not identify the driver of either vehicle.
The second accident occurred about 2 p.m. when a tractor-trailer driven by Jesus Aguayo hit a Honda Civic driven by Ojai resident Martin Colverd.
“I thought we were going to die,” said Norma Lamb of Ojai, a passenger in the Honda.
CHP officers closed three lanes of the freeway for about 50 minutes, Cockrill said. Although the truck pushed Colverd’s car across the freeway and into the shoulder, no one was injured, Cockrill said.
