* LOYOLA MARYMOUNT (7-19) vs. GONZAGA (21-8) at Santa Clara, approximately 2:30 p.m., KXLU-FM (88.9)--Loyola, which upset top-seeded Santa Clara in the first round of the WCC tournament last season and in 1995, will try to duplicate the feat against Gonzaga, the regular-season champion. Gonzaga has beaten the Lions five times in a row, including twice this season by an average of 27 points. Forward Bakari Hendrix, the WCC player of the year, scored 32 points to power the Bulldogs over Loyola, 107-84, last Saturday. The 6-foot-8 Hendrix leads WCC scorers with a 19.6 average.
* PEPPERDINE (17-9) vs. SAN DIEGO (13-13) at Santa Clara, 6 p.m., KIEV (870)--Pepperdine is 4-0 since losing center omm’A Givens because of a disciplinary suspension and enters the West Coast Conference tournament as the league’s hottest team. The second-seeded Waves split their two regular-season games against seventh-seeded San Diego, with the home teams winning. San Diego is without starting point guard Alex Parker, who was suspended last week for unspecified reasons. Defense has held the key for Pepperdine, which is 17-1 in games in which it gives up fewer than 70 points.
