Losses Pile Up, Especially on Road

Should USC lose to Washington State tonight, it would be its seventh consecutive loss, matching a seven-game slide earlier this season. It would also be its ninth road defeat and mark the first time the Trojans have lost all their conference road games since 1977.

The Trojans, who shot worse than 38% against the Huskies, have failed to shoot 50% or better in their last 21 games. The Trojans are averaging 41.4% in conference play.

Update--USC signaled its surrender against Washington on Thursday by clearing its bench at the start of the second half. Freshman walk-on Shelby Jordan started the half and played one minute. Senior Behzad Souferian, a former walk-on who is averaging less than a minute of play this season, recorded three minutes against the Huskies. The Cougars, by comparison, probably played their best game of the season against UCLA on Thursday. Led by forward Carlos Daniels’ 18 points and Chris Crosby’s 15, the Cougars almost upset the No. 18 Bruins, losing on a last-second shot by UCLA senior Kris Johnson.
