A man who allegedly broke into one or more Santa Clarita condominiums Wednesday was arrested after leading authorities on a car chase to his Hollywood home, sheriff’s deputies said.
The drama ended peacefully when police reached the suspect by telephone and talked him out of the De Mille apartment building in the 2600 block of Argyle Avenue. The name of the suspect was not disclosed.
The suspect, 47, had led California Highway Patrol officers and sheriff’s deputies on a car chase that ended about 11 a.m., sheriff’s Sgt. Vince Callier said.
At that point, it turned into a “barricade” situation, and a Special Weapons and Tactics unit was deployed.
Deputies and CHP officers had chased the red Toyota south on the Golden State Freeway to the Hollywood Freeway, then to surface streets. The man eventually abandoned the car and ran into the building.
