Big Sky Again Recognizes Northridge’s Tolson, Criner
Sophomore Christina Tolson and junior Joe Criner of Cal State Northridge were selected Big Sky Conference track and field men’s and women’s athletes of the week.
Tolson was selected for the third consecutive time after raising her Northridge indoor record in the shotput to 52 feet 7 3/4 inches to win the Holiday Inn Invitational in Reno, Nev., on Saturday.
The mark is the second best on the conference’s all-time list and is only 2 1/4 inches shy of the automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA indoor championships next month.
Criner was selected for the second time this season after clocking a school indoor record of 20.92 seconds in the 200 meters to tie for first place at Reno.
Criner’s performance automatically qualified him for the NCAA indoor championships. His previous school best was 21.01 on Jan. 31.
