Mariners School Sets Up Foundation
Mariners Elementary School in Newport Beach has established a foundation to raise money for the school.
The goal, according to Principal Tammy Parham, is to create a $1-million endowment to help pay for new programs and improve the infrastructure.
“This school is over 40 years old, so we are looking at some big-ticket items such as fixing the plumbing and the electrical system,†Parham said.
The foundation committee, a group of parents, is still considering which academic programs it would like to sponsor with foundation funds.
“The first thing we need to do is get this thing going by raising some money,†Parham said.
The foundation plans to turn to both corporate and individual donors.
