A Little Ode to the Odious Flu
In light of the recent articles in your Health section regarding this year’s flu epidemic (“Flu May Catch (Achoo!) You,” by Shari Roan, Jan. 26), I thought you might find my poem to be of interest.
Flu
I had the flu,
For days on end,
Oh this was fun,
Fun not,
My friend,
My fever ran some wretched highs,
I sailed hallucinogenic skies,
Then crashed and burned,
And sailed no more,
I spent more minutes on the floor,
Than I would care to count,
And then,
I saw what must have been my end,
Not once,
Not twice,
But 90 times!
Next time I’d rather squeeze fresh limes,
Into my eyes,
Than chance to dance,
To influenza’s wicked prance!
