Salton Sea Boat Tours on Saturdays Only
Boat tours to view birds in the Salton Sea Recreation Area, about 30 miles south of Indio, Calif., will be offered by state park rangers only on Saturdays next year; this year they were offered on Saturdays and Sundays. The tours, which start in January and last through the winter migration period, are about an hour long. More than 300 species flock to the inland sea, which hosts millions of birds in winter.
The tours are free, but parking costs $5, and you must book the tour in advance by calling (760) 393-3052.
