Fire Department Brush Inspection

The Los Angeles Fire Department plans to ask for a fee to be levied upon 180,000 property owners for annual brush inspection in fire “buffer zones”. Would it not be more effective to levy the fee on those who are not in compliance, rather than penalize those who are not a fire risk to the city? Is the motivation for this action “compliance,” or is the LAFD exploring new methods to offset tight budgets?

I receive brush compliance notices in the mail, annually. I maintain a compliant lifestyle. The abusers ignore the notices and increase LAFD’s costs. The LAFD should target them . . . and the budget issues will cure themselves.
