Legacies of William Woollett
* The retirement of William Woollett, the longtime toll-road chief and former city manager of Irvine, is sad news for Orange County. For more than 30 years, Woollett has served Orange County faithfully and honorably.
You need not look very far to find Woollett’s legacies. His accomplishments include primary roles in the creation of the city of Irvine, one of the most honored and successful new towns in America, and the Orange County transportation corridors, financed and constructed with more innovativeness than almost any other transportation system in the country.
The author of the Dec. 20 letter should recognize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The beauty that Woollett has created will endure for centuries.
Orange County residents are all beneficiaries of Woollett’s long and dedicated public service.
