Pulling the President’s Strings

As usual, the greatest gifts to the American Republic always seem to come from the nation’s heartland.

While big-city sophisticates obsess about fancy cars and trendy social events, a woman from a small town in Wyoming had other ideas. Linda Stoval awoke one night and knew, quite simply, it was time for her to market a President Clinton marionette.

That’s right, a marionette--what some people might call a puppet. The foot-high Clinton, which may be exactly how tall the president currently feels, is handcrafted and hand-painted at a small marionette shop in the Czech Republic, from Stoval’s design.

“It should be a collectible regardless of what happens to Clinton,” Stoval said. “It’s really cool.”

If the Clinton marionette sells well, other presidential marionettes may follow. If so, next on the list would be Ronald Reagan. Just imagine assembling friends and family and staging a presidential puppet show starring Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan.
