Council Votes Down 303-Home Proposal

MOORPARK — Saying the project was too dense and too intrusive to nearby residents, the City Council has scrapped a development proposal that would have added 303 houses east of Maureen Lane.
In the unanimous decision Wednesday, the council directed the developer, Orange County-based Pacific Communities, to revise the project, which also called for 46 homes for low-income families on the parcel south of New Los Angeles Avenue.
In another move, the City Council amended its General Plan to allow for a 43-acre industrial development north of New Los Angeles Avenue on the western outskirts of the city. Councilman Clint Harper was the lone dissenter.
