Lee Lifts Burroughs Over Hoover

Brian Lee scored 27 points, including four three-point baskets, and Burroughs High defeated Hoover, 86-79, in a nonleague game on Saturday.

Zareh Avedian scored 38 points and Narbeh Doloukhanian had 15 for the Tornadoes (4-1).

Kevin Krose and Keith Jarbo each scored 16 points for Burroughs (4-2), which last week blew a 15-point lead to Hoover and lost in a semifinal game of the Burbank-Hoover tournament.

Canoga Park 70, Birmingham 56--Mike Bell and Jamie Harris combined for 15 of the Hunters’ 27 points in the fourth quarter of a consolation victory at the Beverly Hills tournament.

Bell had seven of his 20 points and Harris eight of his 16 in the quarter.

Darryl Taylor had 15 points for Birmingham.

Hamilton 52, Agoura 49--Chris Foster broke a 49-49 tie with a free throw with 31 seconds to play and Damian O’Connor made two technical free throws , giving the Yankees (7-1) fifth place in the Beverly Hills tournament.

Garrett LePisto scored 25 points for the Chargers Agoura (3-3).

Buena 61, Beverly Hills 58--Peter Brown scored seven of the Bulldogs’ 12 points in overtime to beat the Normans in the seventh-place game of the Beverly Hills tournament.

Brown, a 6-foot-6 senior, finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds, and center Danny Thompson had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Buena (4-4).

Junior guard Kerel Sharfner had 25 points for Beverly Hills (1-7)..

Estancia 65, Valencia 59-- Eskias McDaniels collected 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocked shots but the Vikings lost in the third-place game of the Century tournament.

Mark Sison added 17 points for Valencia (4-2).

St. Bonaventure 64, Faith Baptist 36--Michael Emard scored a 26 points and the Seraphs (7-1) won the third-place game of the Fillmore tournament.

Village Christian 52, Fillmore 47--Paul Tait had 19 points, nine steals and five assists to help the Crusaders (2-1) win in the fifth-place game of the Fillmore tournament.

Dago Pantoja and Emmanuel Reyes each scored 12 points for Fillmore (1-4).
