Founder of Firm Behind ‘Math Blaster’ to Share Story

Jan Davidson, who as a teacher 20 years ago founded one of the first educational software companies, will be a keynote speaker at the Los Angeles Times Small Business Strategies Conference Oct. 17-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Davidson will describe how she started Davidson & Associates Inc. with $6,000 and turned it into one of the fastest-growing small companies in the world with successful products such as “Math Blaster” and “Reading Blaster” instructional CD-ROMs. The company was sold in 1996 to CUC International (now Cendant Corp.) for $1.15 billion.
Davidson will speak Oct. 18 from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m.
The conference will feature more than 40 panels and workshops in everything from marketing to managing people.
Participants will have direct access to top entrepreneurs and small-business leaders.
There will be an exhibit hall and free business advice dispensed by experts in the finance and business fields.
