Columnist Applegate to Speak at Expo

Los Angeles Times small-business columnist Jane Applegate will speak at The Times’ Small Business Strategies Conference this fall.
Applegate will discuss achieving success and answer questions in a lunch session from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 17.
Applegate, who began covering small business for The Times in the early 1980s, is the author of three books and writes a syndicated column that reaches 10 million readers.
Based in Pelham, N.Y., she runs the Applegate Group, a multimedia communications company that advises corporations on small business and creates small-business events.
The Times’ Small Business Strategies Conference will present more than 40 panels and workshops on financing, growth, technology, marketing and more.
An exhibit hall will feature companies and nonprofit agencies that target the small-business community.
The conference will be held Oct. 17 and 18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Registration is $99 for both days, $70 for one day.
