Phoenix Wins in 2 Overtimes

Jennifer Gillom made a catch-and-shoot three-point basket to keep Phoenix from losing in the first overtime and the Mercury (15-10) went on to defeat the Rockers, 82-80, in double overtime Monday at Cleveland.
Gillom had a WNBA season-high 36 points. Phoenix’s Michelle Griffiths scored the final points of regulation with a layup with 7.8 seconds left, and won the game with a layup with a second left in the second overtime.
Eva Nemcova led Cleveland (16-10) with 19 points.
Houston 70, Charlotte 67--Cynthia Cooper, sidelined by a mild concussion in the first half, came back with 7:52 left in the game and finished with 20 points to lead the Comets (25-2) past the Sting (17-10) in a matchup of conference leaders at Houston.
Detroit 77, Utah 73--Korie Hlede scored 20 points and Cindy Brown had 21 rebounds to tie a WNBA record set this year by Lisa Leslie to lead the Shock (14-12) past the Starzz (7-19) at Salt Lake City.
