Police Warn of Danger Posed by Coyotes

An increased number of coyote sightings in recent months has prompted the Police Department to release a set of guidelines to local residents.
Because of food sources, coyotes have begun roaming near areas inhabited by humans without fear of the sights and sounds of civilization, police said.
Parents are advised not to leave children unattended outdoors.
Police also encourage residents to keep small pets indoors. Large dogs should not be allowed to run loose or left outside overnight.
Pet food and water should not be left outside. Coyotes may become dependent on the food or water and may seek out the home regularly.
