Disneyland’s troubled speed ride Rocket Rods--sidetracked for four weeks after being touted as a featured attraction of the Anaheim theme park’s revamped Tomorrowland--will resume operations early next week, at least intermittently. The open-air cars, which zip at 35 mph down the tracks formerly occupied by the sluggish People Mover, were shut down amid reports of axle and engine problems. Disneyland spokesman Ray Gomez said the ride won’t be open all day to the public, but it will run between tests and adjustments. He wouldn’t specify what was plaguing the ride, citing only “a chronic mechanical problem” that is being corrected. He said the mechanical changes have not altered the nature of the ride.
