1 Plane Destroyed, 4 Damaged in Airport Fire

One private plane was destroyed and four others badly damaged when a fire broke out in a hangar at Long Beach Municipal Airport, causing an estimated $1 million in damage, fire officials said.
About 30 Long Beach firefighters found fire coming through the roof about 10:40 p.m. Monday. The hangar contained a 1981 dual-engine, six-passenger plane and a travel trailer being used as an office, investigators said.
The fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes, fire officials said. Four private planes in adjacent hangars were damaged, officials said.
Arson investigators believe an electrical problem with a refrigerator inside the trailer sparked the blaze, fire Capt. Keith Seward said.
