Gonzalez Lifts Rangers by A’s
OAKLAND — Darren Oliver pitched eight innings and Juan Gonzalez drove in a pair of runs as the Texas Rangers defeated the Oakland Athletics, 8-4, Wednesday night.
Gonzalez had a sacrifice fly and a run-scoring single, giving him 128 RBIs. Fernando Tatis and Lee Stevens added RBI singles for the Rangers, while Tom Goodwin stole home and had a sacrifice fly.
Oliver (13-12) gave up a run in the first, and allowed just two more hits until the ninth. He allowed six hits, struck out four and walked one.
