No New Time Limit for Trash Barrels on Street
- Share via
A proposal to shorten the amount of time that trash barrels can be left on the street was defeated last week on a split vote of the City Council.
A city ordinance allows residents to put their trash on the street 24 hours before pickup. The barrels must be retrieved within 24 hours after they are emptied.
The proposed changes would have reduced to 32 hours the time trash barrels could have been left on the street.
The council majority said the new hours would be too restrictive, but agreed to review the issue again if residents complain of barrels being left curbside too long.
