Three key players in an alleged scheme to funnel illegal contributions to Teamsters President Ron Carey’s reelection campaign were finalizing plea bargains with federal prosecutors, according to several people familiar with the investigation. Carey’s former campaign manager, Jere Nash; a top consultant, Martin Davis; and a Massachusetts telemarketer, Michael Ansara, were expected to appear before a federal magistrate in New York today, according to the sources, who spoke only on condition of anonymity. The U.S. attorney’s office declined to comment.
