Forum to Address Censorship Issues

When Glenn Stern talks about freedom of expression at a Cypress College forum next week, he says he’ll be speaking from experience.
Stern, 44, contends he was censored recently when college officials removed one of his photographs in a campus exhibit titled “Unauthorized Manifestations.” The picture, “Cries of Freedom,” features an obscene comment about police scribbled on a wall in Spain.
College officials said the photo was removed after students complained that it was offensive. The ensuing debate sparked the forum, set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the campus library building.
“I don’t think that there is any room for censorship in academia,” Stern said.
Forum speakers include a police psychologist and a former Fullerton mayor who sits on the North Orange County Community College District board.
