The City of Brea Art Gallery will host an opening reception for its latest exhibit, “Art and Sport: Images to Herald the Olympic Games,” on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The exhibit, which runs through Oct. 19, features official Olympic posters from the collection of the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles. Pieces in the collection date from the early 1900s to the upcoming 1998 Winter Games in Japan.
The Brea showing will be the final stop for the exhibit, which has been on tour of the United States. The show also includes other Olympic memorabilia, including torches from past games, clothing, programs and souvenirs.
The preview reception will feature free refreshments and sports activities, including a soccer demonstration and a basketball free-throw contest.
The gallery is at 1 Civic Center Circle. Regular admission is $1. Information: (714) 990-7730.
