Mets’ Hundley to Miss 2-3 Days
New York Met catcher Todd Hundley will be sidelined two to three days because an injured right elbow that, for the time being, will not require surgery.
An MRI exam on Hundley’s elbow Wednesday did not reveal any ligament damage, which would have likely meant a major, season-ending operation. Instead, Hundley was found to have two or three chips that had broken off a bone spur.
At the end of the season, however, Hundley will need arthroscopic surgery to correct the problem.
Meanwhile, Met pitcher Jason Isringhausen, who has spent most of the season on the disabled list because of a broken wrist and tuberculosis, needed five stitches after accidentally cutting himself in the right thigh with a pocket knife.
He said he was trying to open a plastic-wrapped anti-theft device.
“I’m wondering what else can go wrong this year,†he said.
