Police Investigate Fatal Shooting
A 32-year-old man was fatally shot behind an apartment complex Monday night, according to authorities.
The victim was identified as Eldridge Johnson of Hollywood, said Det. Marshall White of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire station. The shooting occurred at about 7:30 in the parking area behind the complex in the 8800 block of Burnet Avenue.
Some residents of the complex heard gunfire, authorities said. They went outside and found the man shot once in the upper torso. The victim was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he died a short time later, White said.
It was not known if the shooting was gang-related and there was no description of suspects, according to White, who added that the case remains under investigation.
