Girls Sports Too Often Overlooked
* Thank you for the article about the two Orange County girls’ teams that were recently crowned national champions by the Amateur Softball Assn. (“Big Win in League of Their Own, but Little Fanfare,†Aug. 25). And, it pleases me that you gave them a front-page spot in the Metro section!
It seems that even though it has been years since Billie Jean King won a grueling tennis match over Bobby Riggs, and since women and girls have done spectacularly well in sports of all kinds, they are pretty much ignored.
Yes, unfortunately, most days the only female names mentioned on the sports page are those belonging to racehorses.

* Once again I am disappointed by your meager coverage of the girls national softball champs (two teams from Orange County) and your lavish spread devoted to the boys baseball champs (one team from Orange County).
My only wish is that Title IX will soon be extended to the media.
