Biltmore Hotel
I so enjoy Cecilia Rasmussen’s L.A. Scene, and the one on the Biltmore Hotel (Aug. 24) was especially dear to my heart.
In the 1930s my mother and I used to ride into L.A. from Long Beach on the Big Red Cars to shop for school clothes at Bullock’s and Robinsons. Afterward, for a treat, we lunched in the formal dining room of the Biltmore Hotel. We entered through the revolving door and were ushered to our table--full of linen, silver, china and crystal--and were served our favorite menu: deluxe chicken salad and hotel rolls. I shall always cherish those special days of my childhood--sweet memories!
