Program Established to Honor City’s Youth
A Youth Ambassador Program has been started as a way to acknowledge exceptional students from local schools, service clubs and churches.
The program aims to recognize teens in athletics, music, academics or community service.
“The youth need to be recognized for the things that they do,†said Councilman Michael L. Maertzweiler, who came up with the idea for the program. “They’re our role models.â€
There is no limit on how many 13- to 18-year-olds will be selected.
Nominations must be submitted by local organizations, such as parent-teacher associations, civic service clubs or churches.
Honorees, who must be city residents, will receive certificates and have their pictures displayed at City Hall. Information: (714) 993-8117.
