Hancock 31, Glendale 21--The Vaqueros held the lead late in the third quarter and seemed on the verge of an upset but allowed the Bulldogs to score 28 unanswered points in a 12 1/2-minute span in a WSC Northern Division opener at Glendale High.
Darrell Durham’s 13-yard touchdown run put Glendale (0-6) ahead, 7-3, midway through the third quarter, but Hancock regained the lead on Jeff McCoy’s 52-yard touchdown pass play to Stephen Lovell with 1:22 remaining in the quarter.
The Bulldogs (5-2) added three more touchdowns and a field goal in the fourth quarter, building a 31-7 advantage.
The Vaqueros scored twice in the final minute when Chris Cervantes passed 30 yards to Chas Wiggan for a touchdown and 10 yards to Ryan Brouchet for another score as time expired.
Cervantes completed 12 of 20 for 163 yards but had three passes intercepted.
