Ice Dogs Beat Las Vegas, 5-0
Kay Whitmore posted a shutout and Claude Jutras scored two goals as the Long Beach Ice Dogs defeated the Las Vegas Thunder, 5-0, Friday in an International Hockey League game at Long Beach.
Whitmore stopped all 18 shots by Las Vegas (2-2-0) and six power play chances.
Jutras scored on the first power play opportunity for Long Beach (2-2-1), with a blast from the left circle at the 3:27 mark.
The Thunder had its best opportunity to get back in the game with a two-man advantage late in the first period and a five-minute major to Steven Finn for boarding.
In the second period, Nick Vachon scored his first goal of the year, with Jutras and Mike Josephson contributing one each in the third.
