Anaheim Drama Students to Play Role of Benefactor
Sue Semegran, a drama teacher at Esperanza High School, believes that teaching her students to help others is an important lesson.
That is why the Anaheim high school’s drama department is performing Sunday in Newport Beach to benefit Amanda Arthur’s recovery fund.
“I think it’s a good idea to have kids do something for kids they don’t even know,†Semegran said.
Arthur, 18, was riding in a Chevrolet Blazer with nine Newport Harbor High School buddies when it overturned, killing one passenger and leaving the girl in a coma. Arthur came out of the coma but continues to receive therapy for injuries sustained in the May accident.
The theater group from Esperanza will perform “The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged†at 2 p.m. at Newport Harbor High. A $5 donation is requested to help pay for Arthur’s medical bills.
