Powerwave Technologies Inc.: The Irvine supplier of power amplifiers for wireless communications networks said net income for the third quarter rose to a record $4.7 million, or 26 cents a share, from $1.8 million, or 12 cents a share, a year ago.

Revenue more than doubled to $34.3 million from $14.5 million. Net income for the nine-month period increased to $10.9 million, or 63 cents a share, from $5.4 million, or 37 cents a share, for the like period of 1996. Sales advanced 88% to $82 million from $43.6 million.
