La Canada 13, Gladstone 10--Neven Dravinski kicked a 27-yard field goal for the Spartans in overtime after Orlando Sanchez blocked a 20-yard field goal attempt by Gladstone’s Martin Hernandez to give visiting La Canada (7-4) a Division IX first-round victory at Citrus College.
Fumbles by La Canada running backs kept Gladstone (5-5-1) in the game. La Canada had one drive stall when Sam Kim fumbled at the Gladiator 10-yard line with 4:30 remaining in the third quarter. Chet Johnson-Blasucci fumbled at the La Canada eight with three seconds remaining in the third quarter to set up Chas Ochoa’s one-yard touchdown with 11:26 remaining in the fourth quarter that tied the score, 7-7.
La Canada quarterback Mike Olson left the game with 3:21 remaining in the first half after a hard tackle following a four-yard run. He did not return.
