City Plans to Hire Firm for Candidate Search
City officials decided this week to hire a firm to search for a new city administrator after the departure of longtime administrator Michael T. Uberuaga last month.
Hughes, Perry and Associates of Sea Ranch, Calif., will receive $15,000 for the search.
Officials said applications would be sought from as many as 800 potential candidates before the number is pared down to a dozen or fewer who will be interviewed by the council.
The list of finalists should be available to the council in about four months, and the City Council is expected to make a final selection a month later.
Ray Silver, the acting city administrator, will be among the finalists considered for the post.
