Committee to Present Findings on Schools
A blue-ribbon committee investigating ways to rehabilitate the Montebello schools will present its findings at tonight’s Board of Education meeting.
The committee, which consists of senior citizens, local elected officials, PTA members and community activists, has spent more than a month visiting schools throughout the Montebello Unified School District, talking to staff and students about facilities and overcrowding.
“Our kids are the keys to our future,†said Committee Co-Chairman Robert Cornejo Sr. “As a community, it is our responsibility to protect our children and provide a safe learning environment.â€
Cornejo said the committee will make a recommendation as to the best way to pay for repairs.
