JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — A forgery suspect remained holed up in his mobile home for a second day Sunday after forcing the evacuation of his trailer park by threatening to set off a bomb.
Police acting on a tip moved in to arrest Larry A. Kemp, 36, on Saturday. As officers approached, he warned them off, saying he would detonate an explosive, police said.
The police sealed off the trailer park and evacuated about 140 mobile homes. A state police negotiator tried to get Kemp to surrender.
Evacuees without alternative accommodations spent Saturday night at the Jacksonville municipal building.
