Rabin Assassin’s Brother Files Suit

TEL AVIV — A co-conspirator in the Yitzhak Rabin assassination is suing an undercover agent for Israel’s domestic security service for $1.4 million, charging that the informer incited violence against the prime minister.
Hagai Amir is serving a 12-year sentence for helping his brother, assassin Yigal Amir, plot Rabin’s murder in 1995 to halt his peacemaking with the Arabs.
Hagai Amir says Shin Bet informer Avishai Raviv, whose ties to the assassin have made him a key figure in the murder, committed perjury when he denied in Amir’s trial that he had any affiliation with the security service.
“By doing so, the respondent [Raviv] prevented the plaintiff from raising defense arguments that would have affected the sentence he received and hence caused the plaintiff severe damage,” said the suit filed Sunday.
It said Raviv, recruited by the Shin Bet to inform on right-wing extremists, encouraged the Amir brothers to murder Rabin.
