Cal Lutheran University is offering a biotechnology workshop for Ventura County science teachers who want to brush up on the latest advancements in the field.
The workshops are part of the university’s Science Outreach Program, hosted by Cal Lutheran with a $600,000 grant from the James Irvine Foundation in Los Angeles.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Ahmanson Science Center on the university’s campus.
The outreach program includes identifying gifted science students at Cal Lutheran to become Irvine Scholars at the university.
Those students receive scholarships to Cal Lutheran and paid internships with local biotechnical and health-related firms such as Amgen, BioSource International, Matech Advanced Materials, Biopool International and Columbia Los Robles Hospital.
