Titans Run Smoothly in Exhibition

FULLERTON — It was Cal State Fullerton’s last big tuneup before its basketball season opener Saturday night at Utah, and the Titans kept their preseason momentum going. Fullerton had no trouble with Next Level Sports, a collection of former college players, and won its second exhibition game, 100-78, Monday night in Titan Gym.
Chris Dade connected on 12 of 18 shots from the floor, including five of eight three-point tries, to finish with 30 points. Chris St. Clair was six of 11 from three-point range, finishing with 23 points. The Titans shot 49% from the floor.
Sophomore Ike Harmon played 21 minutes after missing two days of practice late last week because of a sore knee and had 14 points and six rebounds. Coach Bob Hawking said he expects him back at full strength for the weekend.
What impressed Hawking the most was Fullerton’s 52 rebounds to 38 for the opposition.
“That’s an area where we’ve been deficient in the past, and so that was outstanding,” he said. “And the nice thing was we had so many guys doing it.” Mark Richardson had eight rebounds and freshman center Corey Sanders had seven to lead the way.
