Christoffersen Oregon Bound

Nordhoff High basketball center Chris Christoffersen has committed to Oregon.
The 7-foot, 250-pound senior is a Danish exchange student. Christoffersen averaged 17.4 points, 12.6 rebounds and a region-leading 6.3 blocks last season.
Kelley Cook, a senior shortstop at Glendale High, has committed to play softball at Fresno State. Cook is a three-time All-Pacific League player.

Forward Jabari Simmons, a 6-7 junior, had 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Cal State Northridge to a 109-72 victory over the Son Blue Angels in a basketball exhibition Monday night at Northridge.
Simmons, a transfer from Compton College, had team highs of 57 points and 24 rebounds in the Matadors’ two exhibitions.
Senior transfer Mike O’Quinn, in his first game after serving a suspension, had 22 points and seven assists. Senior center Kevin Taylor, returning from a sprained ankle, had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior guard Lucky Grundy scored 15 points on six-of-six shooting.

Mission League champion Harvard-Westlake is the top-seeded team in the Southern Section Division III girls’ tennis playoffs.
The Wolverines will host North Torrance in a first-round match Thursday.
Calabasas is seeded second and Chaminade third in Division IV. Both teams have byes and will play second-round matches Saturday.

The Bell-Jeff boys’ basketball team suffered a blow last week when 6-7 forward Kenny Esteves announced he was moving to Washington to live with his mother.
