To Republican Sens. John Ashcroft of Missouri and Jeff Sessions of Alabama, I say keep up the good work in blocking the appointment of Margaret Mary Morrow to a federal trial judgeship (Nov. 3).
What better proof this is to the voters that the Republican Party is anti-immigrant, anti-minority and now anti-woman.
Don’t fall in love with that nonsense that this is “part of a conscious plan to downsize” the federal courts, since there was no attempt to do so under the presidencies of Ronald Reagan and George Bush. These courts are severely backlogged by a Republican Party that claims to be pro-law enforcement. In 1998 voters will respond to this blatant sexism as they vote Democratic.
