Taitron’s Profits Down, but Sales on the Rise

Taitron Components Inc. posted a net income of $277,000 for its third quarter, down 32% from $409,000 a year earlier.
The Santa Clarita-based company reported sales for the quarter that ended Sept. 30 of $8.7 million, up 26% from $6.9 million in 1996.
For the nine months, Taitron reported net earnings of $1.5 million, down 13% from $1.7 million a year earlier, and revenues of $25.2 million, up 11% from $22.8 million.
During the quarter, Taitron opened a second international office in Taipei, Taiwan. The first was its sales office in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Taitron distributes electronic components such as transistors and semiconductors to other electronics distributors and original equipment manufacturers who incorporate them into their products.
