IBM Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co.’s Verifone unit said they will work together on a security standard for credit card purchases through the Internet. The companies said they will back a single version of the Secure Electronic Transaction security standard and will encourage other vendors to use the same technology. . . . QuadraMed Corp. of Larkspur said it agreed to acquire Medicus Systems Corp., a medical information systems company based in Evanston, Ill., for about $41.1 million in cash and stock, boosting its own product line and services for health-care companies. . . . Studio City-based Jerry’s Famous Deli reported third-quarter net income of $104,000, or 1 cent per share, compared with net income of $9,000, or a loss of 11 cents per share, in the year-earlier period. . . . Van Nuys-based Cherokee Inc. reached an agreement with Sideout Sport Inc. to purchase the worldwide rights to its various trademarks and all existing licensing agreements. Terms were not disclosed.
