Buena Park Wakes Up in Second Half

After a sluggish first half during which it managed only one touchdown, Buena Park shifted into high gear in the second half and finished with a 28-7 Freeway League victory over La Habra Friday night.

“Our intensity level on both sides of the ball was much better in the second half,” Coach Manny Saiz said. “When our line started blocking, our backs performed.”

The Coyotes (3-5, 2-1) rushed for 314 yards in 50 carries. Brian McDonald rushed for 116 yards in 30 carries and scored twice.

Eric Wolford added two touchdowns on runs of 16 and nine yards. Wolford finished with 81 yards in only six carries.

“This was a huge win for us,” Saiz said. “Every win counts if we hope to make the playoffs.”
